Blog 9- May 15th 2015- FINAL ONE
What can I say.... OMG Cegep is almost over and my watch broke :'( I hope it is not a sign that my final project will fail.
Final sprint, I still have some work left to do so I have my coffee cups, iced cappuccino or hot chocolate to keep me awake.
Maybe I was lazy to keep some things that I didn't want to finish first.... Karma, karma...
It looks like I will have to cancel the part of my methodology where I used questionnaires because the opticians and optometrists did not complete them.
I went to the final concert of Dorval Jean XXIII High School to see my childhood friend playing, but wasn't in the show because she got sick at the last minute. It was a wonderful show.
I can't wait till summer because it looks like autumn is back with the grey clouds and the cold wind.
I found some pictures that I took on my 2nd week after my eye exam trying different frames, you will see the final result of my new eyeglasses on Thursday.

This week is the final sprint before ending my project! I hope I won't get too much calls from my job to replace somebody.
I have also found a new interesting fact about the after effects of Ebola: iris colour change so I did my research on it and will put a page for this topic.
Last week I went to get my new glasses and they are awesome and so much better for my sight.
I am a little tired since I worked Friday: 11h to 19h= Saturday: 6h to 13h= Sunday: 5h45 to 14h but I did get my chance to sleep till 11h Monday.
I hope nothing will slow down my last sprint :)

So sunny this week :) So happy :) I finally put my summer clothes in my wardrobe and my drawers.
My project is advancing pretty well and I decided to add some interesting facts that I found on eyes:
-Alexandria Genesis (Gene mutation=violet eyes)
-Heterochromia (eyes that do not have the same colour)
Funny fact I found in one of my drawer all my eyeglasses that I had :p
I learned that with IRIS Mundial, a nonprofit organization, they recycled them and they distributed them
to other countries such as Mexico, Peru, India, Mozambique and Haïti.

One week after my internship and I continued my research on ophthalmic tools such as pachymeter (pachymètre), Farmer card,
drops used to dilate the pupils and to "freeze" the eyes, etc.
Otherwise, I took good care of my sleep :p This week was wonderful since the sun and the very nice weather have gone out :)
I do miss my cegep friends and can't wait to see them.
I finally finished reading Man from Kim Thuy. It was an amazing ending and this book is beating from far her book Ru.
I watched a lot of movies at night with my family such as: Hunger Games: The MokingJay, The Hobbit 3, New Year Eve, The Judge with the one playing Iron Man.
I had a lot of fun.

Today is the last day of my internship. I can't believe that it will be over in 8h.
Yesterday I followed the optometrist during an eye exam and there was this little girl with her father that came.
The little girl brought her stuffed animals and she was so cute :)
I also learned that the drops used to dilate the pupil on children and adult are different. The ones used on children make them see blurry for 2-3 days and for the adults, only a few hours.
Finally (and sadly) my internship is over :( I had so much fun there, everyone was so nice and so funny. I will definitely miss them.
But I will see them soon because I have to take a follow for my contact lenses and to adjust my brand new glasses.
Today I followed the optometrist but I also helped to separate the deliveries. We also received brand new frames from Boss Company.
Since every pair of glasses need a tags and every tags need a sticker with the series number on it with the price, so I put the stickers on the tags and the tags on the good pair of glasses.
Also today was the birthday of a coworker: she brought a cake and another one made one. They were both delicious with the special mint tea. One little curious boy and her mother (clients) came to get a piece of cake.
I really enjoyed my stay at Iris Centropolis (and I have to start my final project).

I can't believe that is the last week of my internship :( I am having so much fun with the team at Iris Centropolis.
It is almost noon and it looks like I won't be able to follow the optician since she will be very busy because one member is in vacation and her other teammate will only arrive at 4 pm. But that way, I can ask my final questions to the optometrist. :p
At this optometric center, I found new documentations so I will study them.
Also, I learned that the optometrist Dr. Hudon is going with Iris Mondial to Haïti in two weeks to give a formation to the nurses.
I heard once this organization once when a friend of mine told me that she tried to have an internship with them but was too late since they were leaving when she was at school :(
Sadly it looks like I won't be going into Nikon Laboratory.
I will miss the team.

My second week of internship is almost over :( Now it is 9:30 am and I will have my full eye exam and I will be choosing a brand new frame for my new glasses. After all it"s been a while since I didn't change them.
The color of my glasses near my nose changed black to grey. I believe this is a sign that I must change them :p
If I get the permission of the optometrist that is going to see me, I will record (only the sound) of
my eyes examination (I got it :) )
Otherwise, next week I will try to work more with the opticians to learn more about their task.
Yesterday I also followed an optometrist which is specialized treating young children. I could see that the way she handled the kids was different than the usual examination with older patients. It was really interesting to see her working.
Yesterday I also learned something new about the possible surgeries with the optometrist during a eye exam with a client
that was 50-60 y.o. The patient had enough myopia and was at an certain age where he could decide if he would considerate one of those surgeries before developing cataract:
-Laser surgery (commonly used to correct myopia)
-Replacement surgery (used to treat cataracts)
During my day off Tuesday, I went back to CiSA to scan some parts of my rented books at the BanQ since the due date is coming really soon. I also borrowed Kim Thuy's book Man which is really good.
Sadly during my eye examination, I learned that I am not a good candidate for laser surgery since my astigmatism is still changing and also because my cornea is not thick enough.... :'(
At least I will be able to use daily-one-time use lenses :p

My second week of internship is starting :) It was hard to start it because all weekend, I woke up at 5:30 am to go to work at the pâtisserie.
But now i am very excited since I corrected my "grilles d'observations" and it will be easier to take notes. Also, this morning I modified this website by adding my new methodology. Indeed in the first week, I realized that my "grilles d'observations" needed to be modified since I wasn't at 100% efficient taking my notes. This is why it took me a little while before putting it on my website. Also, I realized that I cannot do a single survey for the optometrists and opticians since their tasks are not exactly the same. I will finish them by tonight.
I am also very frustrated against Weebly (or my computer) because I can't post my blog entries with the "Blog Page", I don't know why but when I publish them it saves them as a draft.... So this is why I will write my blog entries as if was like a normal page with text.
I also realized that I have to include bilingualism into this project and this website so from now on, I will write my blog in English and part of my logbook entries too.
